Wendover House School opened in 1985. The curriculum and the educational opportunities, including nationally recognised certification is seen as a right for all pupils. The School's speciality is in its skilled teaching and care strategies which help pupils to reach their full potential.

Wendover House, which is maintained by Buckinghamshire County Council, is a weekly boarding, (Monday to Friday) school for pupils who have been identified as having Special Educational Needs. The school caters for approximately 70 children between the ages of 11 and 16.

Wendover House stands in 22 acres of attractive parkland on the edge of the village of Wendover, which is approximately 5 miles south east of Aylesbury, the County town. High Wycombe is 12 miles, Amersham 10 miles and Milton Keynes 25 miles distant.

The prominent building on the site is a Victorian Manor House which, in the main, provides residential accommodation. A modern, purpose-built block has recently been extended to six dormitories.

Linked to the Manor House are the buildings for the offices, kitchen, and dining room. The teaching blocks house the classrooms. There are also specialist rooms for Communication and Information Technology, Science, Design Technology, Home Economics, Textiles and Art. A gymnasium allows a range of physical activities and within the extensive grounds are the playing fields for football, five-a-side, baseball, cricket, athletics, while the hard standings cater for tennis and basketball.

The school has an extensive staff team of Teachers, Support Assistants, Care Staff, Secretarial, Catering, Caretaking and Domestic staff. Each member of the team is committed to providing the best possible environment for each pupil to develop.
